FTP, HTML, BC Personal Web Space

To get started:
1. CREATE PERSONAL WEB SPACE: If you do not have an account for personal webspace at BC, request that your account be activated at:

www2.bc.edu/agree.html

2. OPEN FTP: Log into an FTP program so you can transfer files into your webspace. In the lab, we will use Fetch. For your use outside of class, BC provides programs for both Mac and Windows.

For use outside the lab, you can download FTP clients from the BC software download site.

3. CREATE AW SUBDIRECTORY:
Once you have logged in, open the www folder. This your root directory for your website. Create a subdirectory called aw (use lowercase letters). This is where your homework and classwork files will be stored.

4. CREATE HTML PAGE: Open an HTML editor (Dreamweaver is prefered, but you can use any other program or code by hand if you prefer) and create a file called index.html.

This will be your homework page/directory where you will post all class and homework assignments. All homework pages must be at the following address:

www2.bc.edu/~yourusername/aw/index.html

5. PAGE SPECIFICATIONS: Design your homework page to have a white background and black or very dark text.

Paste the following text on your homework page:

Week 14, FINAL EXAM(Take-home due the following week)
Week 13, In-Class Presentations
Week 12, Draft of Final Project
*QUIZ II: Buttons
Week 10, Homework #8: Buttons II/Actionscript
Week 9: Homework #7: Games/Drag & Drop
Week 8: Homework #6: Buttons I
*QUIZ I: Tweening
Week 6: Homework #5: Masking
Week 5: Homework #4: Animated Card/Shape Tweening
Week 4: Homework #3: Animated Ad/Motion Tweening
Week 3: Homework #2: Banner Ads (static)
Week 2: Homework #1: Homework Page: Bio, photo, email link

You will paste each of your homework assignments under the headers each week. There are (8) Homework Assignments, (2) Quizzes, (1) Final Project and (1) Final Exam, which will all be inserted or linked from your homework page.

6. UPLOAD THE PAGE TO THE SERVER:
When you are ready to upload the page you will open Fetch and following these instructions for Transferring Files via FTP on Macintosh and Windows.
